The 2011 Santa Fe Indian Market application process is now closed. We had a record number of applications this year, nearly 1500. This included 442 online apps (That's almost twice as many as 2010). And If you can believe it, we have already started collecting artist names requesting 2012 Indian Market applications.
Jurying for Indian Market 2011 will be the first week in March and notifications will go out very soon after that. I would like to have it all done by the end of February, but that would mean my artist jurors would need to get ready for the Heard Show earlier... Right?! So, March it is.
We know that youth artists are the future of Market and last year I created a "Youth Sharer" application, so that we can learn how many young artists were actually sharing with their parents in their booth. While youth sharers do not have to pay an application or booth fee, I want to start treating them like any other SWAIA artist. So, if you completed your youth sharer application, they too, will get badges and a listing in the official booth guide.
Don't forget about Class X, SWAIA's newest classification. There is a youth division too. Class X applications are due June 10th. So take that film course this semester and submit it to Class X. [Class X information:http://swaia.org/For_Artists/Film_Classification_X_2011_Information/index.html]
