The SWAIA Fellowship Program was established in 1980 to provide financial support to exceptionally talented Indian artists from across the nation. It provides them an opportunity to travel, develop marketing plans, purchase supplies, expand their knowledge or explore new artistic directions. An unrestricted $3,000 fellowship is awarded to these talents artists, along with a booth at Santa Fe Indian Market and significant publicity is realized in conjunction with this award.
For twenty years the Fellowship Program has been the launching point for the most talented Native American artists practicing today. Santa Fe Indian Market has continued to be the largest and most prestigious Native American arts and crafts show in the world in large part because of its Awards program. More than $60,000 in prize money is awarded to Indian artists in approximately 300 categories. If you would like to help carry on this wonderful and important tradition, award sponsorships are available in a range from $150 to $2,000.
