Avery Aguilar

  • Kewa Pueblo, New Mexico
  • Jewelry - Traditional Form

My name is Avery Aguilar and I am from the Pueblo of Santo Domingo located in north central New Mexico. I derive my motivation for my artwork from my Pueblo heritage in which the basis of life revolves around agriculture. The concepts of agriculture and connection to place can be seen throughout each of my pieces by means of a technique called silver overlay as well as working with precious stones found throughout the southwest. It is through these mediums that I am able to tell the story of my people, my home, and my culture.
