Calvin J Lovato is from Santo Domingo Pueblo located in central New Mexico. He creates traditional and contemporary heishi jewelry using natural stones and seashells. Finding his inspiration throughout nature, Calvin carries on an ancient lapidary tradition to create his distinctive designs. Included in each necklace is a registered trademark of a square melon shell and on earrings is a gold seed bead. Aside from being a jeweler, Calvin is also a husband, father, grandfather, and United States Marine Corps veteran.
