  • Pueblo of San Felipe, New Mexico
  • Jewelry - Traditional Form

Charlene Sanchez Reano from San Felipe Pueblo and Navajo descent married to Frank Reano of Santo Domingo/Kewa Pueblo. Well known for creating inlaid earrings, bracelets and necklaces that have the appearance of intricate, colorful tiles - a mosaic of rich colors and patterns

In the early 1980s, Frank and Charlene began making mosaic inlay jewelry with finely crafted, colorful patterns of shell, turquoise, and other stones. They have since become known as masterful, innovative jewelers. In collaborating, Charlene often creates the design, cutting, layout and setting while Frank does the grinding, sanding and polishing the final product.

One of their distinctive style is a double-sided reversible necklace that feature inlay tabs that have two distinct looks. While one side may feature turquoise and pen shell the other may have a contrasting patter of vivid orange spiny oyster and white clam shell. They are a wonder to behold. Charlene and Frank's creativity and hard work have warranted the title of prize-winning artists.
