Hi, Ira Lujan here. I’m from Taos Pueblo and Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo In northern New Mexico. I’ve been working with blown and hot sculpted glass for 20 years. I was first drawn to the fluidity and the process of blown glass, and the thought that this medium could be brought to the Native American art market as fine art.
My parents collected pottery from Laguna and Acoma Pueblo so I grew up appreciating the design work of these potters. This series of “Glass Pottery”with hot sculpted lids that I am presenting here is the influence from their collection.
The Glass Pottery is all hand blown, hot sculpted and sand carved.
Thanks,
Ira Lujan
