Theresa is a traditional Penobscot basket maker and has been selling her baskets in the Santa Fe Indian Market since 2007. In 2016 she was honored with the National Heritage Fellowship awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts for her own art, and for her work in sustaining traditional basketry for 21 years among four Tribes in Maine; the Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot. She weaves family and tribal styles on antique wooden forms and using tools that have been handed down to her from her great-grandmother.
