Two Parrots Share One Heart

TRIBAL AFFILIATION:
Pueblo of Laguna

CLASSIFICATION:

BOOTH NUMBER:
PAL S 239

MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
I use all-natural clays found on my reservation (Laguna Pueblo), my main body clay is gray and fired beige. I use several slips of white, tan, burnt red, brown, and black paints which are all gathered and screened to produce my natural slips and paints. I hand coil or pinch pot my clay vessels, I do not use a wheel. My pieces are sanded with different grades of fine sandpaper. I slip the surfaces of my pots with white clay and burnt red clay slips and burnish them with a polishing stone. Then I apply my paints with my tribal design of traditional and contemporary motifs. I fired my pottery either with cow manure or use a kiln for my figurines.
