MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
I am a second generation sculptor from Jemez Pueblo New Mexico. I learned about carving Stone at a young age helping my father with his artwork. I got inspired by a lot of artists in my family and community. Each summer we would make a carving for the Santa Fe Indian market. I took 1st place in the youth division. I also enjoyed how people were so kind, generous and motivating to me as a young artist. Art is a great way of expression, and to create timeless art that has great meaning of our culture. These sculptures are carved out of limestone and alabaster. I use power and hand tools to form the body and to create texture and details on the carving. Sanding and polishing wheels for the finish. I carve wildlife, abstract carvings, stone pottery, wood crafts, and traditional carvings.
