Please join us to celebrate Indigenous chefs, foods, food sovereignty, and artists, for the Week of October 19th to the 25th
We are excited to bring you special programming including the Vision Maker Media travel and food series, Growing Native hosted by Director Chris Eyre. As well as Red Chef Revival, an award-winning series looking at Indigenous Chefs such as culinary star, Shane Chatrand, who are reclaiming and reinventing Indigenous foods. Saturday will be the SWAIA premier of the film Gather, which provides an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty.
Each day, we spotlight different Indigenous chefs from across Canada and the United States. Including Tiffany Deer, the host of the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network cooking show Feast. Artists and artworks related to food and health are highlighted, plus the art of basket weaving, one of the earliest vessels used to cook, carry and store food and seeds.
