We are pleased to announce that our 2023 Santa Fe Indian Market is free and open to the public.

Wednesday, August 16th

2023 Artist Reception

This special event celebrates the official opening of Indian Market. Artists and media will meet and connect. SWAIA has hired experienced photographers who will be available to take professional photos at no charge for artists who may need them for their marketing activities. The event will include entertainment and refreshments. 

Artists are welcome to bring their families and two guests.

Best of Show Ceremony and Luncheon

An exclusive, SWAIA members-only event awarding the year’s top artists in all ten juried market categories. The event begins with an awards ceremony for Best of Classifications and the year’s overall Best of Show winner.

Followed by a luncheon in the courtyard, the event is limited to Best of Show and Best of Classification winners, their guests and SWAIA ticket holders.

Attendees will also enjoy a preview of the stunning array of the year’s art entries from all classifications.

SWAIA’s Sneak Peek gives members the opportunity to see the best of Indian Market art after the Best of Show Awards ceremony.

Silent Auction

Friday’s Best of Show Silent auction is a global opportunity for Native Art collectors and market-goers to bid on award-winning art before the official market opening on Saturday morning. 

Bidding begins online at swaia.org, and in person at noon. 

The auction ends at 7pm MST on Saturday night.

ILLUMINATIVE: INDIGENOUS FUTURES

IllumiNative, the Native woman-led social justice organization dedicated to building power for Native peoples, will host Santa Fe Indian Market’s first-ever VIP event. This exclusive experience will feature Native art and culture curated by award-winning Chemehuevi artist Cara Romero, as well as powerful programming that celebrates Native representation in film and television, voting and using your voice for change, women and gender, and climate justice.

SWAIA Gala: "Shiny Drop" Centennial Party, Fashion Show and Live Art Auctions

Indian Market’s “biggest night out,” the SWAIA Gala is a fundraising benefit for the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts.
The event features an Indigenous Fashion Show with seven designers and a live art auction of artistic masterpieces.

Come dressed in your best “Indian Market” style and enjoy this night of phenomenal art, food, Indigenous fashion and fun!

Our afterparty takes place from 9:00pm – 10:30 pm in the Courtyard.

A market favorite, the Native American Clothing Contest presents a wide array of regalia and clothing from North American Indigenous Nations.

Come and witness the handmade designs of Native traditional and contemporary clothing as contestants compete for ribbons in men, women, and youth categories.

Indigenous fashion show events

Join us in the Santa Fe Convention Center lobby for the best place to have Gruet bubbles and wine – and to mix and mingle before the fashion show!

The Indigenous Fashion show, produced by curator and Indigenous art historian Amber-Dawn Bear Robe, is a highly anticipated ticketed runway fashion show.

This year eight designers from the United States and Canada will present their collections.

Ticketholders can purchase and order directly from the designers at The Fashion Trunk Show that follows Sunday’s fashion show.

Only 100 tickets will be available for purchase. Wine and appetizers will be served.
