MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
The focus of my art is to represent Potawatomi culture, tradition and spiritualism with a heavy use of traditional abstract floral designs to enhance the subject matter of the image. My main influences are designs used in Potawatomi dance regalia and traditional dress such as beaded bandolier bags, ribbon shirts and appliqué dresses. My goal is to express these in a contemporary representation but still maintain respect to the traditional aspects of the designs using oil paint as my preferred medium.
