MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
My work is a continuation of five prior generations of Navajo silversmiths. Traditional techniques still adhere in an ever-evolving craft. Stamps are still made by hand using cold rolled steel and rebar. Attention is given to the design of the silver first and foremost with an accompanying turquoise set if applicable. Hand tools like coping saws, files, various hammers and an acetylene torch kit make up the basis of the bench. Ingot projects consist of either US minted silver coins or A-grade sterling cuts, melted and poured using a propane torch, forged and rolled into various gauges. While keeping true to the techniques taught from generation to generation, my designs blend contemporary with tradition, making sure to build upon a family heritage instead of simply recreating them.
