MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE: Traditional Northeastern wampum jewelry, thick old-style beads woven into alliance collars, cuff bracelets, belts and adornment, hand carved and finished using files, hand drills, and fine sandpaper and a little oil, from purple and white quahog shells and whelk, woven on wild harvested hand-spun milkweed traditional plant fibers, naturally dyed with black walnut, sumac berries, and other native dyes with mordants. Twined patterned flat and round soft fiber baskets in handspun milkweed and hemp. Woven quill cuffs made on a loom, and objects, naturally dyed, backed with smoked brain-tanned deerskin.
