Elroy Natachu Jr. (Zuni Pueblo) is a modern-day painter, rekindling the essence of Zuni Culture by incorporating various styles ranging from Abstraction, Color Field, Symbolism, Realism, and Painterly. I encompass a wide range of subject matter that specifically pertains to Zuni Culture. Examples: Kachina Figures, Animals, Insects, Sacred Colors, Embroidery, etc. To describe my artistry: it is the essence of the religious beliefs and teachings of the Zuni People. I use acrylic paints on stretched canvas to create my work. I love utilizing artistic techniques such as color fields, and color theory. The colors are rich in combination of fundamental color principals. These fundamental colors were widely used by our Ancestors who had an understanding, which is awe to behold past and present.
