MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
I use a dense wood called Manzanita that is selected and gathered on Mother Earth for my sculptures. The wood is selected and collected in central California. I look for the cured or dried pieces of wood from the natural elements, carefully inspecting the various gestures in the wood that assist me in carving. The gestures inspire me. Carved using its natural gesture or motion, I use rotary tools and chisels. Other materials that I incorporate into my art pieces are turquoise inlay for further detail and color. I enjoy working with natural materials as much as possible.
