Bobby Brower creates traditional Inupiat clothing with a modern twist. She likes to incorporate non-traditional colors and beadwork. Her patterns tend to be more modern then traditional. Bobby’s inspiration comes from her upbringing. All her life she was surrounded by whaling, hunting, gathering and fishing. Which all inspire her work. She also creates to keep the traditional of skin sewing alive, and to pass it down to future generations. Growing up in two worlds created her style of work. Figuring out how to mix traditional with modern styles. Creating art was the best way she knew how to represent her culture. Since she can’t speak her language fluently, so she uses her art work to show who she is and where she comes from.
