MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
I gather and process the natural clay & volcanic ash, then the pottery and clay sculptures are hand-coil built, and designs are carved in or by relief work. Once dry they are slightly sanded then stone polished and fired either in an electric kiln or outdoors. I work in clay & bronze. I gather and process the natural clay & volcanic ash, then the clay sculptures (& pottery) are hand-coil built, and designs are carved in or by relief work. Once dry they are slightly sanded then stone polished and fired. The technique used for the bronze casting is lost wax casting, I build the sculpture with oil-based clay, or sometimes a rubber mold is formed from my original earthen clay pottery or sculpture. The bronze castings are all limited editions.
