The Yellow Calcite Bear

MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
The stones was cut to size with a 10" lapidary saw and were hand carved with a 8" lapidary grinding stone to shape into individual pieces such a Horse, Bear and a Horn Toad. The pieces were sand with a 8" lapidary sanding wheel using a 300, 600, and 800 grit sanding belts. The Kingman Turquoise Horse has a heart-line in lay with Red Coral and was set to glue in. The Yellow Calcite Bear has a heart-line in lay with Turquoise, Pipe Stone, Lapiz, Mother Pearl of Shell, Black Jet, Red Coral then was set to glue in. The Picasso Marble Horn Toad (Grandfather) has a heart-line in lay with Turquoise eyes and was set to glue in. Then to finish the piece off was done by a polish with a buffing compound. Each piece is carved on the bottom by an initial of JB (Joseph Begay).
