Keshi, my name is Keith Edaakie from the Zuni Pueblo. I am a two-dimensional artist that paints primarily with acrylic paints. I am also a digital artist and strive to incorporate both mediums in my art. The vision of my artwork is inspired by the rich culture and traditions of the Zuni people and at the same time finding balance in today’s modern world. Utilizing both modern technology and traditional valves and concepts I am able to draw the best of both worlds. Using digital art and unconventional canvases like a skateboard, I’m taking something non-traditional and infusing traditional imagery and messages on it. My art tells the stories that have been passed down from generation to generation and depicted in a way that will stand the test of time. “Just as the ancient Puebloan left petroglyphs carved into the stones, my goal as a Zuni artist is to leave an impression for all to see even when I am no longer around.”
