MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
The following materials that I gather in the great northwest to create the tsmsyen traditional weaving are: western red cedar bark, yellow cedar bark, maiden hair , spruce root, canary grass; sea sweet grass. Bear grass is not a typical item used in traditional tsmsyen weaving, however the forest service confiscated years ago, garbage bags full of the grass, that were acquired illegally and would been sold have; they donated the large number of bags to local weavers.
