Large Anasazi Pendant
TRIBAL AFFILIATION:
Pueblo of Laguna
BOOTH NUMBER:
LIN E 722
MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
Jewelry is fabricated by hand. Anasazi shard replicas are made using an overlay technique (Hopi style). Pieces are individually drawn out, hand cut, filed and soldered on top of a back plate. Recessed areas are texturized with an engraver and acid is painted on these areas to give a darker coloring. Bezel settings, clasps, earwires and links are all handmade using sterling silver sheet or wire. On occasion 14kt and 18kt gold are used to fabricate components of the jewelry piece. Once all pieces are soldered together, they are finished by buffing the piece out with either steel wool or felt wheel depending on the desired finish. Each piece of jewelry is sold as a one-of-a-kind and the design is never duplicated.
