MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE: Natural clay and slips are harvested on the Hopi reservation and cleaned and processed in NM. I use vegetal paints along with the natural slips to design my pieces. Katsina bowls begin as pinch pots. Coils are added to desired size of piece. Katsina bowls are made to balance and stand in upright position. The bowls and headdresses are hand burnished/polished by gently rubbing repeatedly with a river stone to desired glossy finish. Pieces are kiln fired.
