Birchbark Biting

TRIBAL AFFILIATION:
Minnesota Chippewa Tribe Fond du Lac Band

CLASSIFICATION:
,

BOOTH NUMBER:
PLZ 40

MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
My work includes Birchbark Bitings, Quillwork, Beadwork, Silverwork. I gather my birchbark in and on our ceded territories, all of my quill work is also harvested in the Summer on our Reservation, gathering is an important material process of my art application process. Birchbark bitings are the first Annishinabae fashion patterns. By using the biting patterns I create in bark I transfer these designs an evolve into an art practice that no one else is doing. I combine those patterns in metals by making stamps that represent my eyeteeth to create new body of works in silverwork, storytelling, performance.
