CLASSIFICATION:

BOOTH NUMBER:

MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
Archaic style of Katsina Doll carving using old techniques and materials. Cottonwood root is used. A sandstone rather than sandpaper is used to help shape and smooth the wood. All attachments are pegged in using a plant twig with a awl to make my holes, NO glue is used. All my paints are natural pigments. To tie my feathers. I poke a hole with my awl, lay my cotton string over the hole, then use the plant twig and shove the twig inside the whole. Leaving the two ends of the string exposed. All painting is free hand. My Archaic style of carving focuses on the spiritual side, rather than the physical.
