MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE: I am a Cherokee Nation artist who works primarily in ceramics and sculpture, photography, and gourd pyrography. Each piece is original, and a direct representation of my heritage, and an emotional connection that the clay brings forth from the earth. Using the interconnection and dependence of the four elements: fire, water, wind, and the earth, I am hoping that each piece is emblematic in the relatedness and respect that we carry forth for Mother Earth and all of her inhabitants. My design features reflect contemporary characteristics that mirror the “Art of Today”, married with the connections of the past. The contemporary aspect allows me to use innovation and bring forth a modern principle, backed with a historical perspective. We must always know from where we came, the struggles of the past, and the promise of the future in order to achieve greatness. I have won multiple awards, published, and many of my pieces in private collections, and commercial spaces.
