Miniature Hopi Designed Pot with Kachina Lid

TRIBAL AFFILIATION:
Pueblo of Laguna

CLASSIFICATION:

BOOTH NUMBER:
SFT P 522

MATERIAL/TECHNIQUE:
I make all my miniatures from traditional Acoma clay, slips and paints. I fire with both cow dung and kiln depending on the weather. I do pinch pots because of the miniature size of the pots. I learned the open fire and making pottery techniques from my Mother in-law Ethel Shields, known for her traditional, effigy pottery like storytellers and snake pots etc. I have been doing pottery since 1977.
